Scorpions – Comeblack

This is an unusual release for the Scorps, re-recording a number of fan favourite tracks after they announced their retirement…

Seven of the thirteen tracks are from their own catalogue, while the remaining six songs are covers!  Being a fan for well over 25 years I find this difficult to swallow, given their discography, but accept it only given that this album demonstrates the band’s enthusiasm and passion for their music.  The re-recordings are different, but still sound fresh, indicating that the Scorpions songs are still valid today.  The covers are not bad (with the exception of “Tainted love” – avoid) and are listenable.

The only point I can see to the making of this album is the fact that the band isn’t ready to retire just yet, which I can live with, but then write new songs, please!  For fans only.
