FROM TOM GALLEY THE CREATOR OF PHENOMENA – Awakening

The last album apparently to feature ‘From Tom Galley The Creator Of Phenomena’, as this album features ten cracking melodic rock songs but not related to the original concept of the earlier Phenomena albums. Even before you get to the vocalist you have a top notch set of musicians including Tommy Denander, Martin Kronlund (Gypsy Rose), Mat Sinner and Mike Slamer to name but a few. Tom Galley is still involved in the production (along with martin Kronlund) and songwriting

Highlights are many from the  melodic rocker ‘Reality’ featuring Toby Hitchcock (Pride Of Lions) strutting his stuff in style and Mike Slamer on guitars, then you have James Christian (House Of Lords) adding his vocals to ‘Going Away’ which has a strong House Of Lords sound musically. ‘Fighter’ has Terry Brock on vocals, a great song about a champion boxer and it reminded me of Steelhouse Lane meets Strangeways. All of Coldspell pop-up on ‘Dancing Days’ which recalls Whitesnake in their late 80′s prime and to finish the album, the only ballad ‘Stand Up’ with Chris Antblad backed by the Gothenburg choir. Not like the rest of the album but Antblad’s vocals work well with the choir.

One to add to your shopping list if you like quality melodic hard rock and there are some sterling vocal performances from the assorted guest vocalists plus a few cracking guitar solos.
