7 Day Weekend are alternative rock band from Warrington, England. The band is made up of Calan Nickle (Vocals), Tom Hancox (Lead Guitar), Clayton Leah (Rhythm Guitar), John Handy (Drums) & Dan Hancox (Bass).
Kicking off with ‘Ghosts Of Me’; an upbeat song full of great guitar riffs and amazing vocals. With a fast tempo and good rhythm, it is a well structured song that introduces the band and maintains the listener’s interest. Next up is ‘Mistakes’; a sort of ‘party hard anthem’ I guess, being a little masterpiece in itself and really complimenting 7 Day Weekend’s talents. Afterwards is ‘Kingdoms’; a slightly slower song boasting some good lyrics. ‘Hide’ is next, and is one of my favourites on the EP. Being a slower, minor song, it differs to the rest of the songs, in a good way. It is a well written and very well performed piece, with a nice little guitar solo towards the end. Awesome. ‘Seasons like These’ now, and brings us back to the happy, upbeat side of things. As with all the other songs, it is well composed and a nice little song.
Now over to the acoustic side of the EP. Acoustic versions are usually very melodic, calm and amazing things to listen to. These are no exception! Maintaining the great quality of the originals, ‘Hide’, ‘Ghosts Of Me’ and ‘Seasons Like These’ are very good acoustic songs.
To conclude, the ‘7 Day Weekend EP’ is bursting with new, raw talent and gives the music industry great hopes for the future.
I would recommend ‘7 Day Weekend’ to fans of old-school You Me At Six and anyone looking for some fresh, decent tunes to listen to.
