Concord Records/Playing In Traffic
The Dunwells released their debut album ‘Blind Sighted Faith’ earlier this year. They have been touring for much of the year, including a lot of dates in the US, to great acclaim.
Now they release a five track EP that includes four songs recorded in August in the US, three of which are acoustic versions of songs of the debut album. Of these ‘Goodnight My City’ sounds amazing and the harmonies on ‘I Could Be King’ are divine, recalling Crosby, Stills & Nash in their prime. The other acoustic song is a cover of Imogen Heap’s ‘Hide And Seek’, which they perform in their live set. The other song is a UK edit of ‘Oh Lord’, which given the success of Mumford & Sons this should have been a massive hit.
If you’ve yet to experience the delights of the Dunwells this EP is a good starting point and for fans of the band it is worth getting for the acoustic reworkings plus the Imogen Heap cover.
