TWISTED SISTER – Twisted Xmas – Live in Las Vegas

(DVD/CD) Eagle Vision

Twisted Sister released their own twisted versions of some Christmas classics a few years ago and now we have a live DVD and CD of these, with a few Twisted Sister classics added to the set list for good measure. Where else but Las Vegas would be suitable for the OTT band? The intro sees the band enter via a locker door, so far, so Spinal Tap but main man Dee Snider arrives as a glammed up Santa on his sleigh pulled by four ladies in various states of undress. When the music kicks in we get party metal versions of ‘White Christmas’ and ‘Deck The Halls’ plus a rollicking run through ’12 Days Of Christmas’. Some parts will be skipped I am sure on repeat plays namely the ‘Satan Claus!’ skit which would have been fun on the night but loses appeal on a DVD. Also the drum solo is thankfully ditched on the CD version.

The band roll out a few classics including ‘You Can’t Stop Rock ‘N’ Roll’, ‘The Price’ and a fists in the air ‘I Wanna Rock’ plus ‘We’re Not Going To Take It’ finished the set off in style. Dee Snider works the crowd with ease and still sounds in fine voice, whilst the rest of the band sound as though they play together every night rather than once in a blue moon.

The band doesn’t play live very often and this live DVD/CD set is a welcome addition. Not for all fans as the set is geared towards Christmas, although I guess that won’t deter too many of their fans.
