Single review: PAUL MENEL & THE ESSENTIALS – Spirit Of ’66

www.facebook.com/paulmenel

Former IQ singer Paul Menel returns with a timely release, a song for England supporters ahead of this year’s World Cup in Brazil. Starting with a Queen approved drum beat the song has a good sing-a-long chorus that you need in a song like this. Lyrically its good to recalling past ‘nearly our time again’ moments and of course Paul Menel’s vocals are as good as they have ever been.

It needs to cross over from the prog rock interest the name Paul Menel will generate and then there is no reason why this song couldn’t have a decent run of success. The song is certainly likely to linger longer than England’s World Cup hopes…says a Scotland supporter penning this review ;)
