On Sunday 21 August, in his weekly show on Get Ready to ROCK! Radio, David Randall previewed the Winterstorm event playing tracks by some of the artists appearing including Tygers of Pan Tang and FM. (20:09)
Troon’s only real rock claim is that Elvis Presley set foot in Britain once at the nearby Prestwick Airport. The Ayrshire town is perhaps best known as the home of this year’s Open Golf Championship rather than being a hotbed of rock.
However one man is trying to change all that. Ian McCaig has promoted a few summer shows in recent years in Troon but has now set his sights on an altogether more ambitious plan – Winterstorm – a two day indoor festival in the town with an impressive initial line up announced including FM, Ricky Warwick, Toseland and Last In Line, the “superband” featuring Vivian Campbell and Vinny Appice.Read more...
The town centre location means there will be no camping, no bad thing in November in Scotland, but there are accommodation packages available in several local hotels.
Tickets went on sale on 1st of August starting at £49 for the weekend. As well as the main stage at Troon Concert Hall three pubs in Troon will be offering live music during the weekend, after show parties with guest rock DJs, and a host of other surprises.
