News: Melodic rockers VEGA and classic rockers BAD COMPANY named in Best of 2016 poll

VEGA - Islington Academy, London, 30 May 2016

Melodic rockers Vega (Top Album) and classic rockers Bad Company (Top Live Act) have been named in Get Ready to ROCK!’s end of year reviewer poll.

Vega, who play a series of headlining dates in the UK from 30 November – 11 December, released their fourth album ‘Who We Are’ in 2016.  Get Ready to ROCK!’s Andy Nathan wrote that the band have become “Standard bearers for a new breed of melodic rock that marries the big hooks of the genre’s heyday with more contemporary arrangements and production.”

Bad Company, including three original members and fronted by Paul Rodgers, toured in the USA this summer and played a series of UK dates in November.  GRTR!’s Pete Whalley summed up the band as “an irresistible force”.

The blues rockers Red Butler were voted Breakthrough Act – a band likely to command wider attention in 2017.

Each year the popular review-based website lists Top Albums and Top Live Acts as selected by their reviewers.  Managing Editor David Randall points out that the choices are not always the most obvious.  “The Best of poll reflects the great diversity of taste and preference at Get Ready to ROCK! and the wide ranging nature of our coverage.”  This year that has included comprehensive reviews of many key UK festivals.

The Best of selections will be featured throughout the dedicated radio station playlists for the remainder of the year, culminating in a Popular Poll show on Sunday 18 December.

Readers and listeners will be invited to vote for their own favourites from 5 December and with an opportunity to enter a Prize Draw to win a selection of albums supplied by promotion sponsors, the German label earMUSIC.
