EP Review: MARK DUDA – Month Of Sundays

MARK DUDA - Month Of Sundays

www.markdudamusic.com [Release date 14.04.17]

Must admit not a name I have come across before, although Mark Duda has been the frontman of New York based rockers the Handful. This solo EP features Mark Duda on vocals and guitars, joined by a few name musicians including bassist Kenny Aaaronson, drummer Bobby Rondinelli (Blue Oyster Cult/Rainbow) and the Dead Boys’ Cheetah Chrome, who guests on ‘Murder On Delancy’.

Guitarist Jimi K Bones co-wrote all but on of the six songs on here with Mark Duda and they are all upbeat rock ‘n’ rollers, with ‘Subway Song’ tapping into a little Ramones for its pace. Highlight has to be ‘Standoff Love’, a tune that reminded me of Meat Loaf in both the vocals and lyrics. Check out the sax work by Arno Hecht who has worked with the Rolling Stones amongst others.

Classy rock ‘n’ roll with a little punk thrown in, what’s not to love? ***1/2
