Album review: THE RADIO SUN – Unstoppable

THE RADIO SUN - Unstoppable

Pride and Joy Music [Release date 20.10.17]

Vocalist Jase Old and guitarist Stevie Janevski are back with a new Radio Sun album, a follow-up to last year’s ‘Outside Looking In’. Once again Paul Laine handles production duties and the band are rounded out by drummer Gilbert Annese and new member bassist Anthony Wong.  There is another guest spot like on the last album, with Andy Shanahan of Roxus guesting on keys on ‘Dreams Should Last Forever’.

They have been playing live a fair bit this year including UK dates supporting Paul Laine and a HRH AOR appearance in Wales.

They have certainly set their harmony vocals button to ‘max’ – check out the glorious harmonies on ‘You’ve Got The Touch’ for proof. These harmony vocals are a real feature of the band’s sound, along with the guitar solos of Stevie Janevski, who puts style and melody ahead of flashy, yet ultimately unsatisfying solos.

Radio Sun also like a good pop rocker and ‘Only You’ reminds you of Cheap Trick and Danger, Danger in their prime. The aforementioned guest Andy Shanahan adds suitably grandiose keys to ‘Dreams Should Last Forever’. Even on a slower number like this the guitars still play a major role, providing a bit of crunch to the proceedings.

The Radio Sun have done it again, an album chock full of melodic rock treats. They show no signs of letting up in terms of  the quality of their songs or indeed playing live whenever they get the chance. Go grab a copy of ‘Unstoppable’ now!  ****
