Album review: THE SENTON BOMBS – Outsiders

THE SENTON BOMBS - Outsiders

Regolith Records [Release date 07.12.18]

I have mistakenly overlooked The Senton Bombs in the past, what a huge error this has been as the Blackpool band release album number 5, “Outsiders”, and what an album, mixing punk, sleaze and classic rock influences the result is more outstanding than Outsider.

The title track opens the album and pretty much lets you know what you are in for over the coming 11 tracks. “Wake The Maker”, “Under Offer”, “Violet Black” and “Who We Are” are all essential listening, the latter reminding me of Hanoi Rocks. Then we have ”I Am Ablaze”, a song that would neatly fit in nicely on a Backyard Babies album.

There are a couple of more radio friendly songs in “Reckless Youth”, with it’s shades of The Clash, and “Bury The Hatchet”, a song that will prick the ears of any Junkyard fans reading this. “Remind Me Of The Moon” is a slower song but fear not as “Dead Revolution” soon picks things right back up.

“Outsiders” has taught me three things. 1. Get on iTunes and download the bands back catalogue, 2. Ensure I see the band live in 2019 and 3. this is the big one.  When someone recommends you check out a band because they think you’ll like them, do it – and on that last point, go and check out The Senton Bombs.  *****
