News: Heavy rockers MASSIVE WAGONS, IRON MAIDEN and THOSE DAMN CROWS named in popular poll (December 2018)

On 16 December, David Randall presented a two hour special on Get Ready to ROCK! Radio reflecting the reviewer and popular choices for “Best of 2018″

Massive Wagons

Readers and listeners have had their say in the annual ‘Best of 2018′ popular poll conducted by top classic rock website www.getreadytorock.com

The Best of 2018 is based on the reviewers’ selections for Top Album, Live Act and Breakhrough Act of the year.

Reviews editor Jason Ritchie commented “It’s always a wide ranging mix of choices each year and not always the most obvious and mainstream.”

Readers and listeners could vote from early December with a chance to win an Amazon voucher in a  prize draw.

Hard rockers Massive Wagons captured the Popular Poll vote for Top Album.  Live Editor Dave Wilson described “Big tunes with huge hooks galore are always a winning combination and this album has both in spades”.

Massive Wagons (pictured, above) play headline dates in April 2019 promoting the album ‘Full Nelson’ (Earache Records) which made No.16 in the UK album charts on release.

Iron Maiden were voted Top Live Act.  Andy Nathan wrote: “Quite simply the definitive Maiden show in my 32 years of seeing them – a spectacular stage show framing a setlist to die for”.

Those Damn Crows

Breakthrough Act is Those Damn Crows.  Reviews editor Jason Ritchie enthused “A re-vamped debut album, a record label behind them backed by plenty of live shows, 2019 will be their year.”  The band will tour with Stone Broken in February.

The eclectic selection of the GRTR! reviewers reflects both the review-based website and the complementary radio station.  The website started in 2002 and quickly established itself as a definitive source of information for rock/related album reviews.

Get Ready to ROCK! Radio celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2008 and the playlists include specialist sequences for progressive, melodic rock and singer songwriter genres.

A two-hour special on Sunday 16 December showcased a selection of favourite albums and artists featured in The Best of 2018 listings.  Station manager David Randall said “The show is a tribute to the hard work of the reviewers and their insightful choices as well as reflecting the Popular Poll results.”
