Album review: BEXATRON – Hey You!

BEXATRON – Hey You!

Zube Records [Release date 07.12.18]

Bexatron are Bexx (vocals), Belle Star (drums), Adam Adorjan (bass) and Greg Radcliffe (guitar), having formed in 2015. They have been building up a decent following with support slots including a recent one with the Treatment, along with numerous gigs in and around London.

Musically they are a magical mix of glam rock, punk pop and a little 80’s pop rock. They have an uncanny knack of penning tunes that stick with the listener after only a coipl

Vocalist Bexx reminds me of P!nk, both in her singing style (especially on ‘Sunway Freaks’) and general attitude to life & rock ‘n’ roll. The album is chock full of foot stompers, be it ‘New York Doll’, featuring plenty of raucous guitar, or the delightfully titled ‘Dirty Disco’. There is a little bit of respite in ‘Mandy Meltdown’, as well as a little funk on ‘I’m Trash’ – loving the bass line on this one. They even offer a bit of sensible relationship advice on ‘Hex Your Ex’ – touch of 80’s Billy Idol on this one.

Bexatron sound like they would be a right handful to see live. ‘Hey You!’ has a wide appeal to entice not only the younger crowd, but aging punks and rockers. ***1/2
