News - Album News

Jefferson Starship are planning to put out an EP, ‘Mother Of The Sun’, on 21 August via Golden Robot Records. Guitarist David Freiberg is the only original member remaining in the group, although former bassist Pete Sears plays on three tracks.

Skerryvore release ‘Live Across Scotland’ on July 10 to celebrate their fifteen years of playing live.

Katie Melua releases her new album ‘Album No.8′ on October 16.

The Cult are currently working on a new album.

Sufjan Stevens has announced that his new album ‘The Ascension‘ will be released via his own Asthmatic Kitty label on September 25.

Savoy Brown, led by founding member Kim Simmonds (pictured), release their new album, ‘Ain’t Done Yet’, on Quarto Valley Records on August 28.

Neal Morse’s new album, ‘Sola Gratia’ will be released September 11 on Inside Out.

Tony Mitchell releases his new album ‘Church Of A Restless Soul’, out on August 28th, 2020 via AOR Heaven. It includes a guest spot from Danny Vaughn.

Austin Gold have released a new single ‘Here To Stay’.

Diesel Machine – featuring vocalist AJ Cavalier (Soil, World In Pain), guitarist Patrick Lachman (Halford, Damageplan), bassist Rich Gonzales, and drummer Shane Gaalaas (Cosmosquad) – will release their new album, ‘Evolve’, on August 21 via Metalville Records.

DarWin to release their second album ‘DarWin 2: A Frozen War’ later this year. It features guest appearances from Billy Sheehan, Guthrie Govan, Greg Howe and Derek Sherinian.

The Dead Daisies release a new digital EP, ‘The Lockdown Sessions’, on July 17 via Steamhammer/SPV. The band’s new album ‘Holy Ground’ has been moved back to January.

Former Black Sabbath vocalist Tony Martin has nearly completed his solo album, which has been in the works for a number of years.

Metallica have announced details of ‘S&M2’, the band’s second live album with The San Francisco Symphony, which is released on August 28.

Ozzy Osbourne has started work on his next album.

Steel Panther are working on new songs with a view to a possible EP release next year.

Robert Plant releases a 2CD anthology called ‘Digging Deep: Subterania’ on October 2. It will feature three previously unreleased songs.

Ace Frehley released his second covers album titled ‘Origins Vol.2′ via eOne on September 18.

LastWorld, featuring multi-instrumentalist Jim Shepard and singer David Cagle, release their new studio album ‘Over The Edge’ via Perris Records on September 18.

News - Tours and Gigs

Y&T – The Tivoli, Buckley, 8 November 2015

Scorpions have announced they plan a full tour of the US next summer. The band are currently working on their latest album.

Stonedead festival has been postponed until Saturday August 28 2021 with the same line-up.

The Live From The Drive-In concert series have been cancelled over concerns about local lockdowns in the UK. These would have featured artists including Gary Numan, Kaiser Chiefs, Those Damn Crows and Skindred.

Skid Row are planning a 30th anniversary tour next year for their ‘Slave To The Grind’ album.

Hard Rock Hell bring together  the cream of New Wave Of Classic Rock (NWOCR) bands together for one weekend. HRH NWOCR will be a 2-day, 2-arena affair on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January 2021 at the 02 Academy, Leicester.

Bands featured will include Massive Wagons, Bad Touch, Massive, Ryders Creed and more.

Ramblin’ Man Fair (Mote Park, Maidstone, Kent UK) takes place 16-18 July 2021.  Amongst the acts announced so far: Clutch (Headliner, Friday 16thJuly), Foghat, The Quireboys, Massive Wagons, The Steel Woods, The New Roses, Bad Touch, Hands Off Gretel., These Wicked Rivers.

On Saturday 17 July the Prog in the Park Stage includes headliner Big Big Train plus Curved Air, Pure Reason Revolution, Moon Safari, Lazuli and Blurred Vision.

The Blues Stage, on Sunday 18 July includes headliners Clutch, Eric Gales, Samantha Fish, The Inspector Cluzo, Connor Selby and Blindstone.

Queen drummer Roger Taylor stated in a recent interview the band would still be making music if Freddie Mercury was still alive. Roger Taylor has recently released a new single ‘Isolation’.

‘Beavis & Butt-Head’ are being brought back, with two series being comissioned by Comedy Central. Winger will be pleased!

Over 1500 musicians are lobbying the Government  to take urgent action to help live music in Britain avoid collapse.  A letter signed by artists such as Paul McCartney and  The Rolling Stones called for a three-point strategy for restarting the live sector, including a clear timeline for reopening, a comprehensive support package and VAT exemption on ticket sales.

Rockfield: The Studio On The Farm, is set for its World TV Premiere on BBC Four and simultaneously on BBC Wales on Saturday 18 July 2020 at 9pm, it will also be available to view on BBC iPlayer.

The documentary traces the history of the recording studio that played host to bands such as Black Sabbath, Queen and Oasis plus many others from the 1970s onwards.

Jethro Tull have endorsed a charity hand sanitiser which is helping to raise money in the USA for the Helping The Heroes charity.

 

Gentle Giant members have reunited virtually for first time since 1980 along with Billy Sherwood (Yes), Dan Reed and more, to record a new version of ‘Proclamation’.

After 34 years Q Magazine has announced its last issue on 28 July.  The virus pandemic and dwindling readership have contributed to its demise.

Bandcamp have announced their Bandcmap Fridays on the first of each month will continue until the end of the year to help artists.

Arena have announced that vocalist Paul Manzi has left the band. His replacement is former Threshold vocalist Damian Wilson.

Damien Edwards is the new vocalist in Cats In Space, who are working on their new album ‘Atlantis’, due for release later this year.
