If you can't find what you're looking for - or wish to refine your search to include only references to the key search term - try putting inverted commas around the search term e.g. "Steve Lukather" or "Black Star Riders"
For example if you enter Black Star Riders the results will include all instances of "Black" "Star" and "Riders". The search will also be slower.

Gig review: RICHARD MARX – Royal Albert Hall, London, 22 May 2024
…venues when he comes over to the UK. Building on some memorable acoustic shows at the Union Chapel in Autumn 2022, he announced a fuller UK tour which culminated in this show at the Royal Albert Hall – a return to the scene of his first major show here in 1989, in the days when he still sported that magnificent mullet. There was another American legend as support in John Oates, seated and acoustic with only a cajon and percussion player fo… Continue reading

Feature: DANNY VAUGHN at Fairycroft House, Saffron Walden, May 24 2024
…217;s Danny Vaughn to headline is a bit of a coup. How did this come about? Yes, I know, I am well chuffed he agreed. I am a fan, but Danny has been a friend of mine for well over a decade now. I will tell you a funny story about my first meeting with Danny; a friend of mine introduced us on social media and I spoke to Danny a few times about photographing the Ultimate Eagles whom he was in at that time, it was either their first show or one of t… Continue reading

Gig review: DANNY VAUGHN – The Grace, London, 4 December 2022
…had interrupted his usual busy schedule, whether solo, with Tyketto or the Snake Oil and Harmony combo with Dan Reed. Indeed the latter’s shows were among the earliest casualties when covid started to take its deadly grip, and after countless more postponements and with Dan now busy with filming activity Danny took the decision to take his own solo show on the road. The New Yorker opened with ‘The Last Sunset’, one of the Tyketto songs na… Continue reading

Album review: PURE ASSASSINS – Questions
Independent [release date 25.11.22] What happens when the Pure Assassins’ drum and bass hedonist picks up a guitar and embraces existentialism? It is sometimes suggested that existentialism is just this bygone cultural movement rather than an identifiable philosophical position. But here, by adding more layers to the band’s traditional Drum and Bass sound, Pure Assassins turn their urban noir lyrics and primal guitar howl into somet… Continue reading

Gig review: GRAND SLAM – The Victoria, Swindon, 22 September 2022
…ead vocals, having taken over the mantle earlier this year, and the band being on tour for pretty much all of 2022, making up for lost time and grabbing every opportunity to gig. The Sons are a guitarist down as Andy ‘Moose’ Muse is recovering after having an emergency op in the middle of their hectic tour schedule, but he’s still with them and manning the merch table at gigs in good humour, wishing you a speedy recovery Moose, we need you back o… Continue reading

Album review: KENTUCKY RUCKUS – Space Is A Place
Website [Release date 29.04.22] Kentucky Ruckus, as their name suggests, hail from Kentucky featuring the Reed brothers – guitarist Kelly and drummer – vocalist Matt Red Moore and bassist Mack Keiffer. The album was recorded and engineered by Tom Tapley (Mastodon, Blackberry Smoke, Larkin Poe). Kentucky maybe known for being bluegrass country but Kentucky Ruckus prefer their music to rock louder and harder. One thing that sticks out upon listen… Continue reading

Album review: JOE SATRIANI – The Elephants Of Mars
earMUSIC [Release date 08.04.22] A new Satch album. Energy levels high. Check. Weird titles. Check. Stellar guitar. Check. Shades on. Check. In fact guitar nerds are being spoilt, because this album comes hot on the heels of Steve Vai’s latest offering. Vai’s is more accessible than we might expect but Satch always delivers in terms of immediacy. Following on from 2020′s ‘Shapeshifting’ and its predecessor… Continue reading

Album review: DAN REED NETWORK – Let’s Hear It For The King
Drakkar Entertainment [Release date 17.06.22] In 2022 all we need is some live music and a Dan Reed Network album. This is the band’s third album of their more recent renaissance following 2018′s ‘Origins’ which sprinkled some new stuff along with re-workings. And if they’ll never quite recapture the sheer novelty and vibrancy of 1989′s ‘Slam’ this comes pretty damn close. Always with great song… Continue reading
