If you can't find what you're looking for - or wish to refine your search to include only references to the key search term - try putting inverted commas around the search term e.g. "Steve Lukather" or "Black Star Riders"
For example if you enter Black Star Riders the results will include all instances of "Black" "Star" and "Riders". The search will also be slower.

Gig review: PLANET ROCKSTOCK – Trecco Bay, South Wales, 4-6 December 2015
…mphasis on the southern style. Being local boys Darren informed us that playing Porthcawl for them was like “playing ***king Disneyland”. A return must surely be on the cards for Buffalo Summer and preferably opening the main stage. Dirty Thrills are one of those bands that when the music starts playing, you either rock out like a maniac, as many did, or you stand there open mouthed unsure of what you are seeing. Bass player Aaron m… Continue reading

Gig review: LAURENCE JONES – The Tunnels, Bristol, 22 September 2015
…great vocals and stage presence. Indeed a quote from Laurence himself really sums up his live performances, “You’ve got to feel the blues, rather than just play it. The thing about the blues is it can take your mind off anything. Nothing else matters when you are on stage playing.” The night ends with a powerful version of William Harris’ ‘Bullfrog Blues’ which he dedicated to his fellow musician Larry Miller… Continue reading

Album review: WILY BO WALKER – Moon Over Indigo
…ep baritone references a familiar roll call of vocalists from Tom Waits, Dr. John, and Edgar Broughton to Wolf, Hawkins, Cocker, Beefheart and in his darker moments even Nick Cave. His unusual phrasing and tight arrangements allow him to immerse himself in his art and sparkle and surprises us with the kind of diversity and contrast that marked George Clinton funky adventures ‘I Want To Know’ is an unexpected brash, big band outing with Andrews Si… Continue reading

Gig review: Breaking Bands Festival – 22-24 May 2015
…g lows that rattle the bones of the hardest of metal fans. Sleaze rockers Wildside Riot are fronted by Rocky “Wrekkless” Shades one of the original glam rockers from way back in the 80′s as part of Wrathchild. Their sleazy riff laden rock and roll, big hair and cowboy boots take us back to Sunset Strip of the 1980s. Sunday started with a “Loud T-Shirt’ contest, a little bit harsh on eyes made bleary by the previous… Continue reading

…very ‘middle of the road’. Featuring some of Northern Ireland’s top musicians including Kaz Hawkins on vocals, Linley Hamilton on trumpet and Anthony Toner on slide, lap steel and electric guitars, it’s little surprise that Murphy’s been garnering enthusiastic support from BBC Radio Ulster. But while Let it Be is a polished affair, it cuts little fresh ground and perhaps reflects the fact that material has been wr… Continue reading

Album review: THE TOI – Water Into Wine
…f Pol Healy (vocals/guitar), Andy Carr (bass/guitar/vocals) and Stevie Mclay (drums/vocals). They also have Dan Hawkins of the Darkness involved in helping out on the arrangements along with Nick Brine (who runs Dan Hawkins studio) who produced the album with the band. The album had a low key release back 2013 and now it gets a full release and rightly so. They remind me a lot of fellow Scots rockers Estrella at times and on their debut single … Continue reading
