40th ANNIVERSARY OF ICEBERG ALBUM
Following the release of his acclaimed third book “The Twang Dynasty”, Deke Leonard relaunches his band Iceberg to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their debut album.
Deke enjoyed two LPs with the band in the Seventies, “Iceberg” and the charting “Kamikaze”, before rejoining Man and ultimately becoming an in demand author. His first book “Winos, Rhinos & Lunatics: Diary of A Rock’n’Roll Band”, humorously chronicled his successful years with Man. The following “Maybe I Should Have Stayed In Bed” expanded his theme to include the years just before the dawn of psychedelia. Both are being republished and will be available on the night.
The band has been described by Deke as “Just the right combination of youth and stupidity”, and features Deke, and former Man, Alkatraz and Neutrons bass player Will Youatt, ex-Man drummer Bob Richards and guitarist Brian Breeze from the original Iceberg.
Iceberg only played four gigs in 2011 and, fresh from supporting the mighty Status Quo at Swansea Bay Festival, this is Deke’s first London gig of 2012. So don’t miss the chance to catch a prog-rock legend still producing the goods.
The set will feature Iceberg classics, material from Deke’s last solo album “Freedom And Chains”, a few surprises and a couple of Man favourites…
