DAMN VANDALS – Kings Of Never
Sexy Beast ( Release Date – 18.03.13)
This is the latest single lifted from the Damn Vandals’ album ‘Done For Desire’ which was released at the tail end of 2012. The two tracks on offer here are distinctive indie rockers with a dark underbelly.
‘Kings Of Never’ is a fuzzed up, straight forward indie track whilst track two, ‘The Revenge Of Spider Toothy’, has an odd, off kilter melody running through it which ups the interest a bit.
Fairly standard indie fare then but not too bad.

THE BURNING OF ROME – Norman Bates
Surfdog (Release date – 18.03.13)
The Burning Of Rome are a new outfit from San Diego who are about to release their first album and this track is the lead track to be released a week before the album finally sees the light.
This is a quirky track with a multi instrumental backing and a catchy melody line. It isn’t all sweetness and light though as there is a menacing mid section with a rabid vocal running under the music.
Overall this is an interesting number which bodes well for the full release

NG26 – If We Fall Tonight
Glasstone Records (Release date – out now)
This is good, hard rock from deepest Derbyshire. NG26 have been around for 5 years and this is their latest single release. Driving hard rock is the name of the game here and the guys show they have lots of ability, the guitar work is especially impressive.
Hopefully this track will lead on to further releases as this is a band that deserves to be heard.

THE BLUEVEILS – Quiet Riot
Self Release (Release date – 25.03.13)
Rather disappointingly this is not a homage to the Kevin DuBrow fronted 80’s rockers. It is however a 3 track EP which will brighten your day with folk and country tinged indie rock.
The three tracks featured offer nothing new, but they are well written indie tracks that bring a bit of sunshine to an otherwise dull day. The band released another EP back in 2012 which I also reviewed and it was more of the same, proving that the guys are consistent in their quality control.
Sunny, fun and worth a spin.

ELYSIUM – In Valour
Self Release ( Release date – 13.05.13)
Hailing from Watford, nu metal noisemongers Elysium are about to unleash this, their debut EP, on an unsuspecting world. Throwing together elements of Lower Than Atlantis, A Day To Remember and Four Years Strong the guys put in an impressive and powerful display.
There are four tracks here which do conform to the usual nu metal rules of engagement. The content and skill on show though is enough to lift this above the also rans in an overcrowded field. Best number is ‘Scars’ which kicks off with a Maiden style riff and contains some tasty guitar licks throughout.
This is a strong first release which shows a band with promise, let’s hope it gets a chance to blossom.
