Fergie sang on Le Roux’s wonderful So Fired Up and then joined Toto for one of my absolute favourite Toto albums, namely Isolation…it was just a shame that his time in the band was so short.
Back in 2010 Fergie was diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer and was persuaded to record and release a farewell album Happiness Is The Road in 2011. Still here and doing what he does best Any Given Moment will serve as a fitting tribute to a world class vocalist. Contributions can be made to a fund set up his son Kyler via http://www.gofundme.com/3ydgpo to help cover ongoing medical expenses etc.
Any Given Moment has been recorded with Italian keyboard maestro Alessandro Del Vecchio who is a Frontiers regular.
The songs and Fergie’s vocals are of a high standard throughout with one notable exception…Not Alone the duet with Norwegian songstress Issa just doesn’t work for me – Issa vocals just do not bond with Fergie. Opener Last Battle of My War could be a long lost Toto number and feature some very personal lyrics given Fergie’s current health. Can’t Let Go continues the classic Toto theme and the lyrical nature. Final track Angel Don’t Cry is a re-working of the Toto number featuring an extended keyboard intro – great way to end the album.
A real pleasure to listen to. Let’s pray that this is not the last we’ll hear of Fergie.

[...] I’d also recommend the Frederiksen/Phillips album (that’s Ricky Phillips of Styx/Bad English fame), the Radioactive albums he guested on and his two recent solo albums, ‘Happiness Is The Road’ and ‘Any Given Moment’. [...]
