GoldenCore Records [Release date – out now]
Miracle Master are fronted by Oliver Weers, a one-time contestant on the Danish X-Factor show which led to him being contacted by producer and songwriter Soren Anderson who helped produce his solo album. The rest of the band rose from the ashes of the band Pump who found some success in the early noughties and produced three albums.
This is the band’s debut record and it is a rather good effort. The opening track ‘Come Alive’ is solid classic rock bringing to mind Velvet Revolver and Slash. Weers’ strong, soaring vocals were made for this kind of music, part Dio, part Gary Barden, he can belt out the lines with the best of them. Judging by the musical accompaniment it may well be worth tracking down Pump’s three albums as the guys are spot on throughout.
‘Fly Away’ and ‘Forgive Yourself’ both contain great melodies and big choruses which would be great in a live setting. The full tilt ‘Miracle Masters’ allows the two guitarists, Marcel Bernhardt and Axel Riessmann, to come to the fore with some rapid riffing and excellent soloing.
‘Will To Survive’ is another song with a big hook and would make a great single release. The rock ballad of the album is ‘Tear Down The Walls’ and it edges into Alter Bridge territory with Weers doing his best Myles Kennedy coupled with a few riffs from the Mark Tremonti song book.
This is a good solid rock debut from a band with the talent to move onto large audiences and venues with ease. As they say on X Factor, it’s a ‘Yes’ from me! ****
