Jizzy Pearl brings Love/Hate over the to the UK for some autumn dates and they will be playing the whole of the classic ‘Blackout In The Red Room’ album. Nikk Gunns asks the questions including the latest on Quiet Riot and if any further books are planned..
1- You’re playing the “Blackout in the Red Room” album in full on this tour. The album is 25 years old and still sounds fresh and vibrant today, why do you think this is?
Well the obvious answer is that it’s a good record. The fact that people still dig it after a quarter century is very satisfying.
2- A couple of year’s back you were said to be done with the Love/Hate name, what has changed?
Nothing has changed other than I realized it’s easier to tour as myself rather than deal with a plethora of ex-member nonsense. This tour is Jizzy Pearl and I’m playing Love/Hate.
3- Who’s in the band for this tour?
I’m using a very cool Scottish band on this tour KING LOT to assist me.
4- Can we now expect to see and hear more of Love/Hate?
You’ll always hear Love/Hate music from me that’s for sure. The music is timeless and I’m always ready to rock. That’s as ‘Love/Hate’ as it gets in 2015.
5- Can we expect to see any original members re-join the band in the future?
They don’t play music anymore so that would be a very large NO.
6- Few people know of your rather excellent work as an author, are you planning to publish any more books in the near future?
Right now I’m working my ass off with QUIET RIOT so there really is no time for anything else.
7- How did your joining Quiet Riot come about and what are your long term plans on that front?
Guitar player Alex Grossi and I were friends so when they needed someone I got the call.
8- What is your take on Gene Simmons’ recent statement that Rock is dead?
Playing rock music isn’t dead; I believe he was speaking to the state of the record selling/buying industry which as we all know doesn’t exist as a financial entity anymore. Rock music won’t die as long as people want to hear it.
9- I saw Love/Hate at London’s Marquee on New Year’s Eve 1991 – what are your memories of that gig?
Most of 1990-1991 was a blur. The UK was lovely to us and still is…
10- You’ve got a lot of fans in the UK – have you got s message for them?
Come to the show—don’t be late!
