Melodic hard rockers Magnum start the UK leg of their European tour on 11 May in Southampton.
The band released their latest studio album – ‘Sacred Blood “Divine” Lies’ in February and Get Ready to ROCK! described it as “fresh, relevant and, yes, even redolent of the glory days”.
Get Ready to ROCK! Radio is replaying several features in May showcasing the band’s music. On Thursday 28 April at 22:00 GMT there is a chance to hear ‘Vintage Rare – Magnum’ featuring several rarities from the 1970s and alternate versions.
“Magnum in the 1990s” (Sunday 1 May, 18:00 GMT) traces the band’s progress in a difficult decade which saw their split in 1995 and reconstitution in Hard Rain which also was a first outing for current bass player Al Barrow.
“Magnum in the Millennium” (Sunday 8 May, 18:00 GMT) brings the story up to date, reflecting the revival of the band’s fortunes and featuring an archive interview from 2011. Signed to SPV, in the last decade they have gone from strength to strength.
In 2012 Magnum were appointed “Ambassadors” for GRTR! coinciding with the website’s 10th anniversary and the band’s 40th (The beginnings of the band can be traced back to 1972). Their first recordings were made in 1974 and a single was released in 1975. It was three years later that Magnum released their debut album on Jet Records ‘Kingdom Of Madness’.
