Album review: BAD TOUCH – Bittersweet Satisfaction

Marshall Records [Release date 08.12.23]
Album number six from Bad Touch. An important one for them as they are just hovering on that cusp of jumping up a level like say Those Damn Crows and Mason Hill, as they have certainly put in the graft, both in the studio and on stage. They’d be a perfect support for the likes of Thunder, the Answer and the Black Crowes.
Two important things that help make this album that bit special. First up, the added female backing vocals add a real swing to the choruses, none more so than the single ‘Nothing Wrong With That’. Secondly, whoever is on the Hammond take a bow as the playing on ‘Spend My Days’ and the title track are superb. Adds a real depth and warmth to the whole album.
Vocalist Stevie Westwood sounds on great form – you can almost hear the smiles in some of the songs. Guitarists Daniel Seekings and Rob Glendinning add the riffs when required and unleash tasty solos when required (pick of them has to be on ‘Taste This’). Finally, the rhythm section of drummer George Drewry and bassist Michael Bailey provide a sold backbeat.
All this and a mobiles-in-the-air ballad in the shape of ‘Come Back Again’. Oh, and the album’s closer ‘Dizzy for You’ would sound great on mainstream radio. A pop rock banger if ever there was one.
Ten songs, just under 34 minutes with not a wasted minute. An album chock full of good time rock n roll tunes that just don’t let go.
This is the album Bad Touch have been striving for since they started, all killer, no filler. Well done lads. ****1/2
