Album review: CORY MARKS – Sorry For Nothing Vol.2

Cory Marks - Sorry For Nothing Vol.2

Better Noise Music [Release date 03.10.25]

Cory Marks new album is a follow-up to last year’s volume 1. Like its predecessor it was produced by Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Shania Twain), Kile Odell, and Andrew Baylis.

The album, in Cory’s own words, is “a rowdy, honky tonk feel-good country anthem made for late nights and good times. With twangy guitars, stomping drums, and a barroom sing-along chorus, it’s the soundtrack to letting loose after a long week.

The song follows a character who is just a good timing simple man … who’s had one to many late nights according to his partner and when times get rough or she’s had enough…

He runs to his favorite small-town watering hole, where the whiskey flows like a river and worries get washed away. It’s about freedom, fun, and the kind of night you’ll never forget – if you can remember it”.

Cory Marks hits the musical bullseye with slower, traditional country like ‘The Heart Breaks When It Wants To’ and then kicks up a storm on ‘Wild Ride’, which as some very tasty solos.

The single ‘Hangman’ rocks hard, showing how easily Cory switches between styles and who is proud to show is musical influences. ‘Pick Up the Phone’ is possibly the hardest he’s rocked to date with a metal guitar riff powering things along nicely.

Whiskey flows through the lyrics (and quite possibly some of the musicians!), where the good time honky-tonk of ‘Whiskey River’ soon becomes an album highlight. The good time vibe continues on ‘A Different Kind of Year’. It is easy to see this one becoming an anthem at his live shows and at NYE parties.

On this album Cory’s a little bit country, a little bit rock and a whole lot of musical fun! ****
