This summer’s HeritageLive festivals at the Englefield Estate, the Audley End Estate and the Sandringham Estate, which included headliners Eric Clapton and Lionel Richie, have been cancelled – “As one of the few remaining British independent promoters, it’s become almost impossible to compete in what has become an increasingly saturated festival market. The might of huge multi-nationals has had the adverse effect of driving up supplier, artist and staffing costs and whilst it’s still just about manageable during a normal year, the cost- of-living crisis combined with general financial uncertainty, has resulted in several shows having far lower than average ticket sales, making it impossible to survive in such a competitive industry, with so many rising costs.”

Alkaline Trio have cancelled this month’s UK tour.

The Beach Boys are taking a “short break to recharge.” They said the plan is to return to concert stages starting on September 2 in Winter Park, Colorado.

Black Star Riders have pulled out of their upcoming European tour with Tyketto and CoreLeoni replace them.

Crowbar have cancelled their European summer tour summer due to the “physical health” of the band’s frontman Kirk Windstein.

Hardline have cancelled their upcoming autumn tour dates as vocalist Johnny Gioeli requires medical treatment.

Jack J Hutchinson will support Robin Trower on the latter’s UK dates in August and September.

David Lee Roth has cancelled all of his upcoming US dates.

Rose Tattoo have announced this will be their final year of touring and have already announced farewell dates for some Australian states.

To celebrate, AC/DC Lane, located in the heart of Melbourne, a Bon Scott mural was unveiled at the end of last month. It was created by Melbourne-based artist Era.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, the Tom Petty estate released ‘American Girl’ and ‘Breakdown’, as extended mixes.

Legacy of a Madman: A Tribute to the Prince of Darkness will take place on July 25 in the Industrial Gallery at the Birmingham Museum. It is a free memorial and legacy event celebrating the lives, music and cultural impact of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.

Metallica have donated £20,000 to a Cardiff foodbank ahead of their gig in the city at the end of last month. The band also teamed-up with the NHS Blood Donation to encourage fans to donate blood.

Brian May has loaned a selection of items from his personal archive of Queen memorabilia to the exhibition ‘Branding Britain: Built on Tradition, Shaped by Culture’. It is hosted by the Museum of Brands, Notting Hill and runs until October 31.

Apple Music have raised their prices from £10.99 to £11.99 for their individual plan and Tidal have increased the cost of their similar plan from £10.99 to £12.99 (the same price as Spotify).

Deezer has revealed that AI-generated music now accounts for more than 50% of new tracks uploaded to the streaming service. In June an average of 90,000 AI-generated tracks were delivered each day onto Deezer.

A new partnership has been launched between the government and the Ed Sheeran Foundation to give more working class children opportunities to play music.  This initiative is seen as a reaction to privately-educated music stars including Chris Martin and Florence Welch.

95-year old Star Trek legend William Shatner is scheduled to appear at the Chicago Riot Fest on September 20 promoting his debut “heavy metal record”.

Prog Rock at the Proms is televised by BBC 4 on Friday 24 July (7pm) and includes music from Genesis, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Mike Oldfield and Jethro Tull. Carl Palmer will be performing at the Prom.
