Album review: CRAZY LIXX – s/t

Crazy Lixx

Frontiers [Release date 10.11.14] www.frontiers.it

With a name that hints at glam or sleaze rock, Sweden’s Crazy Lixx are much more than that and deliver decent, polished melodic rock on fourth album “Crazy Lixx”. The album builds upon the path carved out by its predecessors and should help enhance the band’s popularity even further.

Whereas the band’s 2012 album “Riot Avenue” was described by myself as a mix of classic Motley Crue, Skid Row’s debut, old LA Guns and early Guns N Roses this time Crazy Lixx have taken their sound further and you can now hear the likes of White Lion, Firehouse and maybe even Danger Danger in a more melodic and, dare I say it, more mature sounding mix of influences.

“Hell Raising Women” opens the album in style and throughout vocalist and producer Danny Rexon has done a sterling job (with the album being mixed by Chris Laney). “Sound of The Loud Minority” would have made a great album title, “Girls Of The ‘80’s”- all I can say is ah, I remember it well.

To be fair there isn’t a weak moment on “Crazy Lixx”, however, I would recommend those tracks already mentioned, along with “Outlaw”, “All Looks, No Hooks”, “Wrecking Ball Crew” and “Call To Action” as the ideal starting place.

With this latest album Crazy Lixx have set the bar high for their peers and will hopefully be back in the UK soon.  *****
