News: THE TUBES – October tour dates
In June 2016, David Randall chatted at length to Fee Waybill about The Tubes with tracks from many of their albums. Part 2 is also available via Mixcloud.
The Tubes celebrate their return to the UK with their “Mondo Pulp Tour” 7-22 October 2016.
After their successful dates in August 2015 the San Francisco legends return with an all-new show. Says frontman Fee Waybill: “We’re thrilled to be coming back to the country that started it all for us. I embrace my British heritage; the beer and the fish and chips and the best rock and roll fans in the world.”
In 1977 The Tubes toured the UK, but many of their shows were banned due to British censorship as the authorities reacted to their quasi-pornography and satiricism.
Lead singer Fee Waybill’s deranged on-stage characters included the larger-than-life fictitious platform-booted, drugged out British glam rock star Quay Lewd. In May 1978 – in his persona as punk rocker Johnny Bugger – Waybill fell off the stage at London’s Hammersmith Odeon and broke his leg resulting in cancellation of the rest of the tour.
