Get Ready to ROCK! 20th Anniversary – GRTR!@20 – The Primer
As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations, we’ve asked our Editors to survey their specialist genre highlighting developments and key artists/albums since 2003.
This series will signpost our archive of reviews and interviews, whilst adding new material by way of update.
Get Ready to ROCK! has always been broad based, not just covering the usual classic rock and metal but including the likes of folk, pop and fusion. This diversity really reflects the interests of our review team who have remained pretty constant since 2010. This gives our content great continuity and authority as reviewers are not ony very readable but experts in their field.
The reviews are always informative and balanced, with the depth of knowledge required to set the artist, album or gig in context via historical perspective and comparative analysis.
This series will be added to in the coming months and the hope is that readers will be directed to sometimes less familiar artists and/or albums. It will be complemented by reviewer ‘Best Of’ selections in 2023 and by playlists on Get Ready to ROCK! Radio.
With rock music facing increasing difficulties in 2022 (Notably, the ongoing effect of the pandemic and the economic crisis) it is perhaps timely to take stock and these unique essays will illuminate where we’ve been and where we are going in the future … and the artists that may take us there.
