Published by Backbeat Books
Normally reserved for the ranks of more obsessive fans and anoraks (and before you ask, I am one myself- KISS, Rolling Stones and Hanoi Rocks) of late these kinds of books have taken on a whole new lease of life as music fans age well yet never lose that deep love of a good band or musician.
One such musician is Eric Clapton who has two such books recently published. The first “Eric Clapton FAQ: All That’s Left To Know About Slowhand” has been put together by lifelong fan David Bowling and is an in depth look at just about every aspect of Clapton’s career from collaborators, landmark concerts and albums- you want to know about the great man’s career- it’s all here.
The second book is more of a document to the actual timeframe of events, “Eric Clapton, Day by Day- The Early Years: 1963-1982” has been compiled by Marc Roberty and is one of two volumes- the second, covering 1983 to 2013, will be issued later this year.
This book covers Clapton’s bands such as The Yardbirds, Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, Blind Faith etc and numerous guest appearances and cameos with the likes of George Harrison, The Rolling Stones and The Who’s Pete Townshend. Featuring a host of photos, gig posters and album art, the book is a real smorgasbord of facts and trivia covering the highs and lows of one of music’s most legendary artists in an almost diary like style .
Both books are published by Backbeat Books and both will no doubt be essential reading for the legions of Clapton fans worldwide.
