Proper Records (released 30th September 2013)
This is the third solo album from Ocean Colour Scene/Paul Weller’s guitarist Steve Craddock, who also has his wife Sally help out on vocals adding a folk air to the proceedings in places.
The album starts with his wife Sally taking lead vocals on ‘Anyway The Wind Blows’, a song whose folk leanings are slightly at odds with the rest of the album that has a distinct 60′s pop meets psychedelic sound. There is a cracking tune in ’10,000 Times’, co-written with Chris Difford, a hit if ever there was one. Tunes like ‘Out Of Mist’ and ‘I am The Sea’ recall the Byrds in their heyday and choruses that you can hum for days afterwards.
An album full of finely crafted 60′s pop/psychedelic sounds that will certainly appeal to Ocean Colour Scene and Paul Weller fans, both of who happily dip into these genres from time to time.
