News: FRUITS DE MER RECORDS celebrate 10th birthday with Glastonbury Gig

Independent label Fruits de Mer Records celebrate their 10th birthday in 2018 with a raft of releases and a birthday celebration at the King Arthur pub in Glastonbury on 12 May.

The gig has already sold out and will be a showcase for several FdM acts including Tir na Nog, The Honey Pot and Magic Bus.  Several releases will be made available exclusively for this event.

The label specialises in progressive rock in its various guises – such as psychedelia, underground, and acid folk – and with artists drawn from all corners of the world.  Each release is usually available as a coloured vinyl, limited edition and highly collectible.

Goldfish: 10 Years of Fruits de Mer Records

“Goldfish: 10 Years of Fruits de Mer Records” is a 3-LP set scheduled for release on 30 April in a triple gatefold sleeve that, according to the label’s founder Keith Jones, is “designed to make ‘Yessongs’ seem like the old newspaper you wrap your fish and chips in”.  An additional 7″ single completes the package.

The Pretty Things - Giants of Rock, Minehead, January 2017

Amongst the artists appearing on this celebratory compilation are legends such as The Pretty Things (pictured) and Tir na Nog along with the new vanguard of psychedelic prog such as Astralasia, Soft Hearted Scientists and Sendelica.

Also coinciding with the 10th birthday is the publication of a new label history “The Incomplete Angler – 10 Years of Fruits de Mer Records” by Dave Thompson.  The book includes over 50 interviews and a complete label discography including the imprints of ‘Regal Carabomophone’, ‘Strange Fish’ and ‘Friends Of The Fish’.

The 16th Dream of Sardonicus is the label’s annual music festival and takes place this year 3-5 August at the Cellar Bar, Cardigan, Wales.  Festival goers receive a package of FdM goodies as part of the ticket price.
