Second album from the band Toseland, the band fronted by James Toseland, who switched bikes for the stage and music. The band’s debut album, Renegade’ gained favourable reviews including our own David Wilson who gave it a four star review. Since then the band have appeared at various festivals and their own successful headline tours.
Album number two and Toby Jepson is still at the production helm, plus co-writer with James Toseland and Mike Fraser (Bryan Adams/Motley Crue) handles mixing duties. The album reminded me of Little Angels, notably on the ballad ‘Fingers Burned’, no real surprise given Toby Jepson’s involvement.
‘Puppet On A Chain’ is the lead track and rightly so as it is so damn catchy. One of the songs of the year and no mistake. Mind you ‘Livin’ A Lie’ could be a another featured song as again it has a massive hook filled chorus, plus an OTT guitar solo, superb stuff. Loving the drums on the album too, Joe Yoshida belts it out none more so on ‘Nothin’ You Can Do About It’ and listen to those cymbals crashing all over it.
A real party rock album – crank up the speakers and enjoy from start to finish. He was a champion at bike racing and he is making a damn good go of it in the music business. ****
