DEAD CELLS – Tear Down The Heavens
Dead Cells play rock music. This may sound like a simplistic statement, but that is exactly what you get, straight ahead, no frills rock which is refreshing to hear. The band formed a couple of years ago and have released a couple of singles over the past year and have progressed to an 5 track EP release this time.
Opening track ‘Sunshine’ has a great signature riff and takes you back to the rock of the late 70’s and early 80’s, it is the same kind of sound that ‘The Black Spiders’ are creating to great effect at the moment. Track of the EP for me though is ‘ Here Be Dragons’ which has an urgent backbeat and a chorus with a monster hook.
Dead Cells may keep things simple, but they do it with a lot of style and great melodies. The band intend to tour as much as possible on the back of this release, so watch for them playing a bar near you soon, they should provide a top rocking night.
