GARBO DASTROG – Black Sheep Syndrome

2012 www.garbodastorg.com

French producer and musician Garbo Dastorg has been making music since the ’80’s and new album “Black Sheep Syndrome” would have fitted the late end of the decade’s glam rock nicely. However, the album is also indie rock influenced so would have probably also been OK in the next decade too.

The vocals on the album are, at times, similar to those of Hanoi Rocks’ Andy McCoy on his early solo work. Opening track “Triple Six Barrel Shotgun” is McCoy meets indie rock, “A Perfect Crime” is McCoy does Manchester, whilst “Obsession” is pure Glam Indie (again, McCoy style vocals). “R’n’R Morphine” is glam meets Dogs D’Amour, “My Velveteen” is glam pop indie rock and “Shake Your Soul” is heavily influenced by Oasis. Then there is the trippy, almost psychedelic feel of “Makes Me Go Wild”, which also has some nice Keith Richards style guitar on it, the out and out trippiness of “Fatale Smile” and the Beatles like acoustic track “River O Diamonds”.

“Black Sheep Syndrome” is one of those albums that you will either like or you won’t, if you like the bands mentioned above then you will probably like it.
