ETERNAL ‘Chapter 1’

Another top hard rock band from Sweden shock! Yes Eternal are another in that long line of excellent Swedish melodic hard rock/metal bands and this is their debut album after releasing an EP back in 2008.

Keyboard player Pontus Lekaregard writes most of the music and lyrics yet despite this the music is very heavy indeed. There are some cracking hard rock tunes like ‘You Can’t Break Us’, where vocalist Christer Gards sounds uncannily like Graham Bonnet and Alcatrazz are one of the bands Eternal remind me off. ‘Human’ evens adds in some dance like keys at the start before the big riffs come in. ‘Virus’ and ‘Start Of A New Era’ again see the band produce high quality and catchy hard rock tunes. Shades of Royal Hunt on ’Heroes’ where the band deftly meld heavy guitar with stabbing keyboard riffs. A nice big ballad wouldn’t have gone amiss, otherwise its high quality music all the way.

How this band have not been picked up by either Escape or Frontiers is a mystery as based on this album they have a bright future ahead of them.
