My Dynamite are about to explode from down under (ooh-err !). The Australian 5 piece are a heady mix of The Stones, The Faces, Humble Pie and The Black Crowes. The most telling influence is that of The Black Crowes and these guys carry it off with style.
This is the band’s debut album and it is excellent southern rock with plenty of swagger. Pat Carmody on vocals is very much in Chris Robinson mould which is no bad thing and puts in a great performance. The rest of the band are no slouches either with fabulous guitar work from the two guitarists, Jorge Balas and Benny Wolf. If you want big, ballsy tunes then you have come to the right place. There are highlights galore over the course of the 10 tracks, but if pushed I would recommend ‘ Big Attraction’, ‘Singing Stormy Weather’ and album closer ‘ Fork In Your Tongue’ as the stand out tracks, the last being a real stomper.
My Dynamite have supported The Screaming Jets and Rose Tattoo so far in their career and judging by the strength of this album many more high profile gigs should come their way soon, the UK awaits guys…
