LOVE UNDER COVER – Set The Night On Fire

Sweden does it again as another great melodic hard rock band bursts onto the scene. Mind you one look at the line-up and they are seasoned musicians including Last Autumn’s Dream vocalist Mikael Erlandsson and Martin Kronlund (Gypsy Rose/Phenomena) plus guest musicians include Ten’s Ged Rylands.

The opening salvo of ‘My Best Friend’ (upbeat rock like Treat although the lyric is about a man and his shotgun!) and ‘Angels Will Cry’ starts the album off on a high and it rarely disappoints from these songs onwards. Few little variations to keep the interest as ‘Through The Storm’ has a little Celtic touch and the album’s only ballad ‘A Nice Day’. Last Autumn’s Dream is an obvious musical similarity but so too are Treat and Pretty Maids as Love Under Cover go for the heavier end of melodic rock, with guitars at the fore as opposed to keyboards.

Sound and production is top draw as you’d expect and the melodies are blissful on the ears. Crank it up and set to ‘repeat play’!
