Album Review – LORD – Digital Lies
Dominus Records (Release date – out now)
Lord started out life as Dungeon in the depths of the Australian outback. They relocated to Sydney and had a successful career, releasing 9 albums and finding an audience across Australia and beyond, supporting the likes of Megadeth, Edguy, Nightwish, Opeth and more.
Back in 2005 though the Dungeon moniker was dropped in favour of Lord but the band carried on as before . Digital Lies is Lord’s fifth album and it finds the band continuing with their fine mix of power metal, thrash and melodic rock.
The disc kicks off in fine style with ‘Incipio’ leading into ‘Betrayal Blind’ which is a fine power metal track riding along on a wave of double bass drums and solid riffage. Lord Tim does a fine job on vocals and he, along with the other guitarist, Mark Furtner, play some fine guitar throughout, trading solos on most tracks.
All tracks on the album are well written and it is obvious that the guys have been together for a long time. ‘Walk Away’ and ‘The Last Encore’ were two tracks that really caught my ear, both are first class, hard rocking songs.
‘Digital Lies’ is a fine album that will cement Lord as a big league act across Australia and beyond. If you like a bit of power metal then this one is worth tracking down for a blast.
