On Sunday 14 August, John Verity was special guest in The Pete Feenstra Feature on Get Ready to ROCK! Radio.
John Verity began his music career in the early 1960′s, supported Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin in the USA with his early band Tunnel, and secured a deal with ABC Dunhill/Probe Records. His album ‘John Verity Band’ was released in 1973.
Whilst on tour promoting the album, Verity was spotted by Rod Argent who was looking for a new lead vocalist for his band following the departure of Russ Ballard. He joined the band Argent in 1973 and stayed until 1976.
After this time, Verity formed Phoenix with Argent rhythm section Bob Henrit and Jim Rodford and made two albums before following a twin career of co-producer (Charlie, Saxon etc) and solo musician/sessionist working with artists such as Colin Blunstone, Brian Connolly (Sweet) and John Parr.
Verity’s latest solo album ‘My Religion’ features originals and favourite covers and has also been released on vinyl with a bonus track.
Get Ready to ROCK!’s Pete Feenstra chatted to John for his “Feature” show on Get Ready to ROCK! Radio in August 2016, discussing his career and the new album. This show was first broadcast on 14 August and is repeated on Thursday 18 August at 23:00 GMT.
