JOSH TAERK Rock N Roll On
Josh Taerk has released a new single digitally and it has been a little while since we heard anything new from him. ‘Rock N Roll On’ is a classy upbeat rocker, complete with an instant chorus and a short but sweet guitar solo.
It is such an upbeat song, perfect for blasting out on a summer’s day and the sort of song that should be added to those many driving CD compilations you see around. A great song and hopefully more new music will follow soon from Josh. ****

SLYDIGS How Animal Are You? [Release date 12.05.17]
The Slydigs have been around for a few years and this is their third EP release to date. The line-up is Dean Fairhurst (vocals/rhythm guitar), Louis Menguy (lead guitar/vocals), Peter Flemming (percussion) and Ben Breslin (bass/vocals).
They certainly know how to rock as opener, the Stones/Black Crowes influenced ‘How Animal Are You?’ shows and contains the great line ‘she blows cigarette smoke through my tambourine’. The lead song of this EP, ‘Give It Up Brother’ is another strong piece of blues based rock. They slow it down a little for ‘Suburban Confinement’ which features a great solo on the outro. It reminded me of the Answer in their early days.
Their are plenty of good blues rock bands in the UK like Broken Witt Rebels, the Rainbreakers and Tax the Heat, well to that list you can now add the Slydigs. Impressive music with a tip to the Stones, Black Crowes and Oasis (the latter on the ballad ‘The Kids Feel Underrated’). ****

PETER DONEGAN – Superman [Release date 21.06.17]
Yes, you’ve guessed it. With a name like Donegan, Peter is indeed, the son of ‘The King Of Skiffle’ Lonnie, widely regarded as Britain’s most successful and influential recording artist before the Beatles.
A ‘mini album ‘ of five self-penned numbers ranging from Country to Country Rock, recorded in Studio 19, Nashville, Superman’s actually a pretty impressive release that is hugely radio friendly – at least on the US side of the Atlantic. With his heritage, and the right exposure, I could easily see it rattling around the Billboard Charts.
But whilst it’s an undeniably polished and infectious piece of work, and one that that pushes all the right ‘arena ready’ buttons, I’m not sure about wider UK appeal. But hey, in a genre and where artists like Lady Antebellum are regarded as demi-Gods, anything can happen. *** ½
