Albums of the Month
May 2017
COCO MONTOYA Hard Truth (Ruf Records)
“It’s rare for an artist in the middle of his career to push himself up to another level, but ‘Hard Truth’ does precisely that … an album that will surely be contender for one of the best blues-rock releases of the year.” (Pete Feenstra) |
BIG WOLF BAND A Rebel’s Story(Big Wolf Band)
“There’s barely a dull moment here … a quality blues-rock album that will surely cement Big Wolf Band in the vanguard of the current blues-rock scene.” (Pete Feenstra) |
DRAGONFORCE Reaching Into Infinity()
“Dragonforce continue to go from strength to strength and with the heavier thrash tracks creeping in they are sounding better than ever.” (Dave Wilson) |

BIG BIG TRAIN Grimspound (English Electric Recordings)
“…simply wonderful to listen to and immerse yourself in.” (Jason Ritchie) |
June 2017
ROBIN TROWER Time And Emotion (Manhaton)
“His delicate touch and judicious use of tone, as well as his latter career world-weary vocals, stand out as a testament to his art…a coherent musical journey that demands patience, focus and – unsurprisingly – space and time” (Pete Feenstra) |
THEA GILMORE The Counterweight (Cooking Vinyl)

“…featuring the band’s trademark choral backing vocals and some serious riffing…one that will please old and new fans alike. (Jason Ritchie) |
VOODOO SIX Make Way For The King (Cadiz Music)
“When mixed with a strong tipple or three the combination – especially live – could be rather wonderful. But, wait, we are told that we might lose a few more brain cells in the process? Fuck dementia, and enjoy.” (David Randall) |
THE MAGPIE SALUTE s/t ()
“…I can only imagine what quality will flow when they get around to writing original songs. A Tour de Force indeed…” (Mark Shaw) |
July 2017
BLACKWATER CONSPIRACY Shootin’ The Breeze (Bulletproof 20/20)
“They … know the value of contrast; when to lock into a groove, when to conversely hang back and let the melody percolate and when to rack up the intensity and rock.” (Pete Feenstra) |
KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD Lay It On Down(Provogue)
“There’s no room for complacency, cliché or recycled riffs as the essential meeting of polished songs and a seasoned road band pushes Kenny to new artistic heights.” (Pete Feenstra) |
