In this two hour special, first broadcast on Get Ready to ROCK! Radio on Sunday 22 December, David Randall plays ‘The Best of 2019′ and announces the results of the popular poll.
The results of the Best of 2019 Popular Poll have been announced by Get Ready to ROCK! in a special show on their dedicated radio station.
Every year the Get Ready to ROCK! review team name their best of selections in several categories.
The popular vote took place from 9 December with the results announced two weeks later.
Top album is Chasing The Monsoon ‘No Ordinary World’ described by reviewer Pete Whalley as “a brilliantly produced record of tantalising beauty”.
Joint second position is Rebecca Downes (‘More Sinner Than Saint’) and Buck And Evans ‘Write A Better Day’ whilst Black Star Riders ‘Another State Of Grace’ was voted into third position.
Among albums named by voters but not in the nominations were those by Matt Pearce & The Mutiny, Quireboys and Rival Sons.
Top live act is Steve Hackett who continued touring his ‘Genesis Revisited’ show in 2019 with ‘Selling England By The Pound’ featured in its entirety. Alan Jones wrote: “… superb from start to finish – with musicianship of the highest order from a band at the very pinnacle of their powers. What. A. Night.”
Second place in the poll for Top Live Act went to Martin Barre for his 50th Anniversary show, whilst joint third place went to The Divine Comedy and Rammstein.
Top Breakthrough Act is Rainbreakers, who made the reviewer top choice in 2018. Reviews Editor Jason Ritchie commented “An impressive mix of blues, rock and soul this four piece from Shrewsbury look set to gain even more fans after impressive live shows this year.”
The Best of 2019 show is repeated on Monday 23 December and Friday 27 December at 22:00 GMT on Get Ready to ROCK! Radio.
Prize Draw winner will be notified by 25 December.
