Alcatrazz release their first new album in over thirty years on July 31. Called ‘Born Innocent’ the line-up features founding members Graham Bonnet, Jimmy Waldo and Gary Shea

Iron Maiden release ‘The Live Collection’ on June 19, which will feature Live After Death and Rock In Rio.

Steve Howe (Yes) releases his latest solo album ‘Love Is’ on July 31.

Nick D’Virgilio (Big Big Train) releases his new album ‘Invisible’ on June 26. It features guests Paul Gilbert (Mr Big), Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) and Rick Nielsen (Cheap Trick).

The Hellacopters have confirmed they are working on their first new album in over a decade.

Enuff Z Nuff release their latest album, ‘Brainwashed Generation’, on July 10 on Frontiers.

Chimpan A have released a mini-film of their song ‘The Calling‘.

Ensifreum will release their new album, ‘Thalassic’, on July 10 via Metal Blade Records.

Accept have started work on their next album.

Frost* release their ‘Others’ EP on June 5.

Symphony X are planning to start work on their next album.

Bob Dylan releases his new album, ‘Rough And Ready Ways’. on June 19. This is preceded by a new single ‘False Prophet‘.

Lonely Robot, the project featuring John Mitchell, release a new album, ‘Feelings Are Good’, on July 17 on Inside Out.

Autograph release a new single, ‘Souls On Fire’, on May 15 and it features new guitarist Jimi Bell (House Of Lords).

Neil Young plans to release his unreleased album (recorded 45 years ago) ‘Homegrown’ on June 19.

Lionheart release their new album, ‘The Reality of Miracles’, on July 31 and the first to feature new vocalist Lee Smalls (ex-Shy).

Drummer Simon Wright has revealed in a recent interview that the Dio’s Disciples album is ‘on hold’.

Black Stone Cherry have completed work on their next album.

FM’s Steve Overland and Bad Company’s Simon Kirke have started work on the second Lonerider album, due for release on Escape Music.

Dee Snider releases a new album, ‘For The Love Of Metal Live’, on 31 July on Napalm Records. It includes the new studio song ‘Prove Me Wrong’.

Cheap Trick have completed work on their new album, due for a release via BMG on a date yet to be confirmed.

Devildriver release ‘Dealing With Demons 1′ on October 1 via Napalm Records.

Ali Maas and Micky Moody (ex-Whitesnake) release their new album, ‘Who’s Directing Your Movie?’ on July 31.

Lynne Jackaman (Saint Jude) releases her debut solo album, ‘One Shot’, on August 14.

Voyager release their 2017 album ‘Ghost Mile’ on vinyl on July 10.

Shirley Collins releases her new album, ‘Heart’s Ease‘, on July 24.

News - Tours and Gigs

Festival updates:

The Winter’s End festival has moved to May 2021.

Cornbury festival has been postponed and will return next year between July 9-11.

Steelhouse festival has been postponed until next year between 23-25 July 2021. Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, The Quireboys, H.E.A.T., Kris Barras Band, RavenEye, Florence Black, Revival Black, Those Damn Crows and Collateral are all set to appear.

The SOS festival has been postponed until next July 2-4. The line-up includes Piston, Myke Gray featuring Kym Jennett, Rocket Dolls, Collateral and the Bootyard Bandits.

Bloodstock has been postponed and will now take place between 11-15 August 2021, with an extra day added and existing ticket holders can roll over their tickets to next year’s event. Most of the bands will still appear next year including Judas Priest, Saxon and Devin Townsend.

Ramblin’ Man Fair has been cancelled for this year and will return on 16-18 July 2021.

The End of the Road festival due in early September has been postponed until next September.

US & Canadian summer & autumn (fall) tours by the following have been postponed or cancelled:

Rammstein have cancelled their planned 2020 European stadium tour which was due to start next month. Rescheduled dates for 2021 have now been announced (see our tour dates pages).

Stereophonics have cancelled their planned UK summer shows.

Iron Maiden have postponed all their 2020 tour dates and rescheduled them for 2021.

Guns ‘N’ Roses have postponed their European summer tour due to start later this month.

Jeff Lynne’s ELO have cancelled their planned UK & European tour due this autumn.

Big Big Train have postponed their July UK & European dates.

New Order have postponed their London show from October to November 2021.

Jethro Tull have moved their planned September UK tour dates back to September 2021.

Romeo’s Daughter have postponed their planned UK autumn tour to March 2021.

Former Black Sabbath vocalist Tony Martin has joined Kingdom Of Madness, the band who feature former members of Magnum.

Guitarist Marcos Rodriguezhas left Rage.

Vocalist Ronnie Romero has rejoined Lords Of The Black, who are working on a new album called ‘Alchemy Of Souls Pt. I’.

The Cult have signed to Black Hill Music.

Queen + Adam Lambert have released a new version of ‘We Are The Champions’ as a charity single. Brian May also recently stated in an interview it was highly unlikely that a sequel would be made for the box office hit ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Wendy Dio has said that Ronnie James Dio’s memoir is on hold during the current pandemic. Mick Wall is working on the book with Wendy Dio.

Neal Schon announced via his Twitter that Randy Jackson (bass) and Narada Michael Walden (drums) are the new members of Journey, who are also joined by keyboardist and vocalist Jason Derlakta.

The BBC have announced a full line-up of Glastonbury programming over the weekend that the festival would have run this year, June 26-29. It will include David Bowie’s  headline set from 2000, along with performances from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, REM, PJ Harvey, Amy Winehouse, Blur, Toots & The Maytals, Arctic Monkeys and The Rolling Stones.

The CEO of Live Nation said in a recent interview that it was unlikely they would be seeing any major arena shows/tours until early next year.

Record Store Day will be held on three separate occasions to ensure social distancing.  The event involving more than 200 independent shops in the UK will take place on three Saturdays – 29 August, 26 September and 24 October.

Bandcamp will waive all artists fees on the first day of each month for the next few months.

News - RIP

The Stranglers keyboard player Dave Greenfield has died after testing positive for Covid-19. He joined the band a year after they had formed in 1975 and co-wrote one of their most well known songs ‘Golden Brown’.

Kraftwerk co-founder Florian Schneider. A statement said he “passed away from a short cancer disease just a few days after his 73rd birthday”.

Rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Little Richard. He was a major influence on the likes of the Beatles, the Everly Brothers, the Kinks and many more.

Guitarist Bruce Kulick, who was a member of Balance and played with various artists including Diana Ross, KISS, Meat Loaf and many more.

Brian Howe, former vocalist with Bad Company between 1986 and 1994. He also sang with White Spirit and Ted Nugent.

Phil May (pictured, with Dick Taylor) frontman of The Pretty Things has died aged 75 following emergency hip surgery.  The band influenced Bowie, Hendrix and The Rolling Stones.
