Single review: RAGZ – Don’t You Forget
Ragz Nordset brings her otherworldly music of the spheres from her native Nordic roots and the result is one of the most sublime things you’ll probably ever hear. With the haunting notes of a piano that sounds like it is imbued with the spirit of Edwardian England as her accompaniment, Ragz tender and extraordinary voice soars over this tale of a relationship falling apart with an absolutely heartbreaking fragility.
The world seems too small a place to contain such a divine swell of emotions and yet it speaks in the quietest of whispers that pierce hearts with the precision of a scalpel, the lyrics both timeless and universal. This isn’t any standard singer/songwriter torch song but something that utterly transcends the constructs of the genre and sets a new benchmark that is virtually untouchable.
Ragz has captured the chill melancholy of her Norwegian homelands and distilled that into four minutes of utter perfection. Once you’ve heard ‘Don’t You Forget’ you may stay under its spell forever. *****
