Album review: TIMSON AOR – Forever’s Not Enough

TIMSON AOR - Forever's Not Enough

Bandcamp [Release date 12.01.24]

As the Bandcamp blurb states, Timson AOR are “A band landing 40 years late!! Reviving the classic 1980s Hard Rock, Power Ballad era we all love and miss.”

To be fair, many artists have tried to recapture those 80′s glory days, however, they often fail on production and the songs, leading to a trail of mediocre releases you play a couple of times and then forget about.

Not so with Timson AOR (I know it is spelt differently but I keep having visions of Timpson’s the shoe repairers!), as they have lovingly crafted an AOR treat for you.

Timson AOR are a duo consisting of Mark Timson (Guitars, Bass, Keyboards, Synths, Drum programming) and Lukky S (Vocals, Lead Guitar, Bass, Keyboards). You could argue a live drummer may have improved things a little, although the heavy backbeat on ‘More Than Enough’ certainly negates that notion.

‘Running For Our Love’ has wave after wave of synths, whilst Lkky S proves his vocal worth. Brings to mind Treat, Prophet, Loverboy et al. The guitar solos are none too shabby either on this one and the title track.

The title track is the ‘big ballad moment’ which Timson AOR pull off in style. Yes the lyrics verge on a tad cheesy, but then often that’s part and parcel of AOR. This one wouldn’t look out of place on the debut album from Valentine.

You may need to set your air keyboards to ‘stun’ on ‘Love Will Find A Way’. What a key-tastic piece of prime melodic rock! This is what updated melodic rock/AOR should sound like.

Timson AOR will satisfy those after a classy 80′s melodic hard rock fix. Eight songs, under forty minutes, sleek sound and catchy melodic songs, what’s not to like? ****
