EXUMER – Fire & Damnation

If you were alive and conscious of the music scene in the 80’s, in particular the thrash world, it’s pretty likely you’re familiar with the name Exumer. If not, welcome to 2012, and I would like to introduce you to one of the finest thrash bands ever. Having released two classic albums back in the day: Possessed By Fire (1986) and Rising From the Sea (1987), held in high regard by those familiar with the scene need to take heed that after vanishing into the haze in 1990 they’re back and better than ever.
Metal Blade is proud to present Fire & Damnation, a no-holds barred Teutonic thrash assault that will bludgeon your ear holes with metal ferocity. The band has lost nothing in the time away, unleashing ten tracks of pure metal bliss that should satiate any thrash appetite. You would think with 24 years of a hiatus from playing together, they would show signs of wear, but they’re heavier, angrier, and more cohesive than ever. However, with the men responsible for all things Exumer still being in the forefront, Mem V Stein on vocals and Ray Mensch on guitar, you still have the core of the band. With songs like “A New Morality,” “Vermin of the Sky,” “Crushing Point,” and “I Dare You” the band remains pure to what brought them to prominence, yet it sounds fresh and new. It’s like the band are reinvigorated and have something to prove to not only themselves, but their fans that despite the couple decades away they’re still ready to rip off your face.
Why Exumer never managed to match their contemporaries in success, like Exodus and Kreator, they have always been held in high regard by the underground metal scene. If you like your metal fast, aggressive, and in your face, Fire & Damnation from Exumer is the album for you.
