Single review: THE COMMONERS – Runnin’ Blind

Orange is the new black, forty is the new thirty, The Commoners are the new Black Crowes, with ear worm chorus’s.

It grabs you with a descending guitar riff whilst another clashes with power chords till the organ swirls and bang the vocal hits. This song, about being on the road chasing your dream of making it in this ever resistant music business, is a winner.

It’s an urgent, devils gonna catch ya before you can make it piledriver of a song, with maximum use of the organ, and soaring backing vocals in the chorus You can see them cramped up in a van, darkness all around, tearing down the road on the way to the next gig. whilst the clothes on their back are still wet from the last one. Adventures and misadventures go hand in hand in this chosen lifestyle.

Carry on writing songs like this boys, and you’ll soon get to where you wanna go.
