Frontiers [Release date 25.01.19]
Veteran rock band Quiet Riot are the latest live offering from the Frontiers “One Night In Milan” series. Recorded at the 2018 edition of the annual festival in Milan, hence the title, highlighting the labels roster this fifteen song set mixes well known hits such as “Bang Your Head” with deeper album cuts like “Terrified” and “Thunderbird”, the latter played in its entirety for the first time.
Quiet Riot were originally formed back in 1975 by Kevin DuBrow and the legendary Randy Rhodes and todays line-up consists of original drummer Frankie Banali, long term members bassist Chuck Wright and guitarist Alex Grossi plus new singer (and former American Idol star) James Durbin on vocals.
Whilst this live set does admittedly sound a little dated at times, it does show what a great band Quiet Riot are, and have been over the last few decades. “Freak Flag” and “I Can’t Get Enough” are perfect examples of a rejuvenated band creating new music that fits perfectly with their older and more established material, and when you consider that this includes the likes of “Condition Critical”, “Run For Cover” and the covers of Slade’s “Cum On Feel The Noize” and “Mama Weere All Crazee Now”, then you realize what a great current line-up the band have. ****
