Rising Stars – EARTHPRAYER

What are you currently up to?

We've got gigs every weekend this month so we're in the studio rehearsing and
also writing material for the second album

Brief history of Earthprayer …

We're a 4 piece Rock/Blues band from London. Been together for over two years.
Our first gig was at Proud Camden & we went on to play venues such as the 100
club, Heroes, The Underworld and the main and alternative stages at the Rhythm
festival. Our first demo was played on many Local Fm Stations and Our first
album was produced by Chuck Sabo (Wasp)

At our album Party we met producer Pedro Ferreira (Darkness) who was so
impressed by us that we're now talking about recording our next album with him.
Recently we've just been nominated for best rock act at the Exposure Music
Awards.

You’ve released an album called ‘Nine Days’, which took nine days to record.
How easy/hard is it to record with a short time scale like this and are you a
band that likes to fine tune new songs on the road first before recording them
for an album?

It was really weird how it all just happened. We planned on spending a lot more
time on the album, but things just fell into place really quickly and we just
went with it. We definitely like the songs to be ready before we go into record,
I think that's why it took such a short time to do it, because we were ready and
knew what we wanted before going in to the studio. But I think next time will be
different, it was just one of those things.

How do you go about promoting your music? Do sites like MySpace, Facebook
etc. bring you in new fans and potentially sales?

Not so much myspace anymore, but Facebook and Reverbnation are really great
tools for promotion, after every radio play or gig we definitely see an increase
in hits and sales. We also sell our album at gigs and are designing T-shits for
our upcoming shows

Who are the band’s musical influences and why?

We are all pretty much into the same music which helps, the Stones, Deep Purple,
Hendrix , Thin Lizzy ,Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, the list goes on, as long
as it's great music.

How did you get your first break into the music business?

Sue Marchant from BBC Radio
Cambridgeshire was one on the first Radio shows to play one of our songs. I met
her at the 100 Club a few years ago and handed her a Demo and she really was
impressed .So I guess you could say the right place at the right time

How do you view the current rock music scene? How easy/hard is it to get a
decent run of gigs together and how has the current economic climate been
affecting the live scene?

I don't have any bands that I'm passionate about these days, no-one has that
edge for me, it's all sounds abit lacking. Compare now a days rock to the 70's
and there's just no comparison. Yeah they have talent but something’s missing.

For us it's not hard getting the gigs , it's the quality of gigs that are hard
to find, but we're getting there, you gotta start somewhere. I think The
economic climate has brought people together, if people want to see a great band
they'll go to any lengths no matter the cost to see them. Music is a great
healer.

Any other bands out there that you would recommend?

Sadly no , but maybe I just need to get out more, I'm sure they're out there
somewhere.

Any good rock 'n' roll tales to tell?

Ask me in a few years when we're on tour… Lol

What ideally would you like to achieve by this time next year?

To Have recorded our second album,
playing major festivals and gaining international success.

What do you like doing with your spare time outside of music?

Being with my family.

Message for your fans…

Thanx for believing in us!
