Vocalist Markus Dangel has, for the most parts, a whisky stained, sleazy growl of a voice that is perfect for the band’s music. I say for the most as there are a couple of tracks on the album (“Up To You” and “Such a Pity”) that sound like someone else singing, although this is not in the credits, and the vocals here have an almost Green Day feel to them.
The album’s opener, and title track, has an Iron Maiden style urgency to it and this soon gives way to the more sleaze drenched numbers such as “Big Balls”, “Thank You” and “L.A Dream”. “With The Devil” has some classic punk style backing vocals whilst the guitar playing on “Surrender” is worth a special mention.
“Straight From The Heart” was produced by the band’s guitarist, Kai Stahlenberg, who has done a great job in sonically taking us back the early nineties with the feel of the album and I wouldn’t be surprised if his name appears on a lot more production credits in the future.
